The basis for saying those charges are ridiculous? Er...

Well, for a free market, you need information. However, "information on charges for call forwarding services and voicemail diversion, as well
as information on charges for value added services, for calls to toll free numbers and
for possible charges for unanswered calls is much less readily available." (p3 of the ERG report on International Roaming at http://erg.eu.int/doc/publications/erg_05_43rev1_irr_ttransparency.pdf)

Beyond that, I think it is unreasonable to charge £4/minute to call the UK from Italy on a mobile - see the box on http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4851730.stm

I didn't say I wanted to nationalise telecoms. I said that the market needed regulation.

Given that I've openly said that I want Tony Blair to stand down immediately and was treasurer of the Stop the War Coalition at LSE (arguing for a policy that would have made me materially poorer), I think I'm allowed to criticise Mr Blair's militaristic foreign policy.

xD.
