Charles Clarke… again

I’m sure I’m not the only one who winced when they saw a mention of Charles Clarke on Iain Dale’s Diary, and not just because of the post’s title (Charles Clarke launches grenade at Balls). Mr Clarke is a serial troublemaker who seems determined to cause as many problems as possible shortly before an election. Mr Clarke’s letter could have waited another twelve days.

In a letter to the Times, Mr Clarke says of private briefings by Mr Balls that

Such things do discredit politics and take us back to the days of faction and party-within-a-party that were so damaging in the 1980s

That may be true, but Mr Clarke, having repeatedly tried to stick the knife into the current PM, is no angel and we could do away with his “indulgent nonsense” of pretending to have been somehow wronged or to be innocent of participating in the same manner of posturing that is ultimately destructive to the party.

xD.
