Where’s the outrage?
Do you remember, a little while ago, that the Hackney Gazette and its owner, Archant, caused some unfortunate publicity for themselves when they agreed to run an ad from the BNP in the run-up to the Mayoral election? No?

I was surprised and, to be honest, disappointed to learn, via JimJay of the Daily (Maybe), of this advert in the Guardian.
You will have a high degree of political awareness to provide high quality support. It follows that you will need demonstrable ability to build relationships across professional boundaries, handle sensitive issues and obtain data from a range of sources. Experience working with high profile individuals in a pressurised environment will be essential. You will also need strong analytical, interpersonal and research skills and a sound grasp of standard office systems.

Have just found out the ads have been paid by the GLA, to advertise for Barnbrook’s PA, rather than paid for by the BNP.

The Guardian have a contract with the GLA and the hiring of staff is conducted by the GLA. I would suspect that they would be opening themselves up for a legal challenge if they didn’t advertise for his staff just because he’s a member of the BNP.
