Predictions for MMIX in review and predictions for MMX
Just over a year ago, I posted some predictions for MMIX. They were, with results,
- There will be an attempt to ‘test’ Obama militarily within his first year of office
Not as I expected - There will not be a General Election in the UK
Correct - There will not be a go-ahead for the third runway at Heathrow
Incorrect - Al Franken will win the election recount in Minnesota
Correct - Russia’s attempt to form an equivalent of Opec for natural gas will fail
Correct, I think - The pound will reach parity with the euro for a brief time before recovering by the end of the year; it will not fall to the level of the chocolate coin.
Correct - Tim Pawlenty will gradually build up a more public, bipartisan profile with a view to a presidential run in 2012
Incorrect, but I think it may come true - Some of the inmates at Guantanamo Bay will still be in a state of legal limbo as the USA will not prosecute and their home countries will either not accept them or not give guarantees as to their security
Correct - Boris Johnson will attempt to take credit for the 2009 Stock tube trains on the Victoria line
Incorrect, I think, but there are plenty of examples where he has - I will be married!
Correct – hurrah!
So six out of ten.
For 2010, I’m going to predict that
- The Conservatives gain most seats at the general election, but not an overall majority
- The US will pass some form of healthcare bill that does not include a public option
- Ireland will not overturn its blasphemy law
- There won’t be a revolution in Iran
- Somebody is going to come out with a tablet computer that actually takes off.
Not sure about anything else.
xD.
