Hug a Tory day

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Courtesy of Tygerland:
Following the bloody battering the Tories received in last night’s by-election (police have requested dental records to identify the mauled bodies), Tim, being the concerned citizen that he is, has lovingly launched “Hug a Tory Day”.
The rules are simple… HUG A TORY DAY: 20 July 2007

The Boris Johnson Coronation

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Oh dear, oh dear. The Tories are trying to choose their candidate for Mayor of London, but their much-vaunted primary has ended up looking like a rubber-stamp for Boris Johnson.
The news item on the Conservative website can hardly be called unbiased: it has a picture of Boris (reproduced right) and reads
[...] Other [...]

Guido on Boris

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Paul ‘Guido Fawkes’ Staines is, unsurprisingly, supporting Boris Johnson for Mayor of London. I don’t that Mr Johnson would want the support of someone who advocates copyright theft is beyond me; I’d have expected Staines to be in favour of property rights, but it would seem that does not apply to people he doesn’t like.
One [...]

A challenge for you, Guido

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Guido Fawkes has been blogging lately at some length about Boris Johnson standing to be the Conservative candidate for Mayor of London.
The Conservatives’ website has a news story that reads
Boris Johnson, the Henley MP and former Shadow higher Education Minister, was the last to put his hat in the ring before Monday’s noon deadline for [...]

What price marriage?

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

The Conservatives have come up with the idea that families are good and better if they’re married. In their attempt to promote marriage, they have suggested a £20 a week tax break, effectively putting a price on what should be a contract you enter into for love and not financial reward or other convenience.
Aside from [...]

Quentin Davies defects to Labour

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Quentin Davies, MP for Margaret Thatcher’s hometown of Grantham and Stamford, has defected to the Labour party. More on the BBC News website. In a letter to Dave Cameron, Davies said that the Conservative party “appears to me to have ceased collectively to believe in anything, or to stand for anything”.
Davies isn’t massively high-profile, but [...]

The Sun, Cameron and Brown

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

The Sun has issued its latest edict in the form of its Sun Says column. It starts with a hagiography of Brown before declaring:
For the first time, he will be pitted directly against David Cameron, the most popular Tory leader for 15 years. Both have plenty to prove between now and polling day.To the [...]

Brown v Cameron

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Gordon Brown has had a poll jump according to yesterday’s Observer. This is to be expected - people like new things - but unfortunately the Observer neglects to give its margins of error. A 3% rise could actually be static if there is a 1.5% margin either side. Still, I’m feeling pretty good about things.
If [...]

Nadine Dorries MP, Mahmoud Ahmedinjad and Shilpa Shetty

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

I consider myself a liberal; so long as it doesn’t affect other people, you should basically be allowed to do what you want. It’s a rule of thumb and there are shades of grey, but that’s where I’m coming from. There is an opposing tendency that becomes outraged at the idea that there are people [...]
